Robin van Persie has been told he must adapt better to Louis van Gaal’s rigorous Manchester United training methods if he is to have a successful future at Old Trafford.
Van Persie ended last season with just 10 goals to his name after a frustrating year of injuries and indifferent form under the manager who made him Dutch captain during their time together at last summer’s World Cup.
The 31-year-old has a year left on his contract at the club and is keen to stay but has been left under no illusions about what he must do if he is to play any kind of meaningful role at all next season.
